Pilates Classes In Stockport
As someone who’s always been involved in fitness and as a huge advocate of living a healthy lifestyle, my obsession with Pilates was a natural progression. Due to two pregnancies, a tilted pelvis and countless months of carrying babies around on my hip, a physiotherapist encouraged me to take up Pilates and I’ve never looked back!
I’ve been practicing the art for many years now and as soon as I started feeling the benefits for myself, I knew I wanted to help others experience the same thing. Post pregnancy or not, Pilates can transform your life the way it’s transformed mine. My passion for and expertise in the discipline will ensure that you’ll be on a path towards a healthier, stronger you! I’m here for you all the way.

Why You Should Do Pilates Classes
Like myself, a lot of people are recommended to take part in Pilates by their Physios because it really does work wonders for the body. There are different types of Pilates; I teach modern Pilates which is commonly used to strengthen the core but it also improves your posture as a whole. Modern Pilates is also used to reduce and even prevent pain, demonstrating why it’s so frequently recommended for pain therapy.
Modern Pilates works by gently strengthening and stretching the deep stabilising muscles that support your spine and pelvis (abdominals), back muscles, buttocks and thighs.
By focusing on the muscles that surround your spine and pelvis - ensuring mobility and flexibility of the spine in all directions, the pain associated with poor posture, weak core muscles and certain conditions, aches and pains can decrease. This will give you more freedom of movement to enjoy life with less back pain and more confidence, with improved posture.
We also focus on strengthening the base of your core (pelvic floor muscles) which can reduce the risk of prolapse - reducing/preventing stress and incontinence, improving recovery after prostate surgery in men and increasing sexual sensation for both men and women. Win win!
Who Can Benefit from Pilates Classes
Everyone! Pilates can be used to treat a range of pain-related conditions and everyone can benefit from having a stronger core or better posture. Maybe you’re into sports and need to build that core in order to perform to the best of your ability, maybe you’ve done your back in because you’ve been sitting in the office all day or maybe you’re an avid gardener who’s put too much strain on your back- the point is, Pilates is adaptable and useful for anyone who experiences back pain. It’s safe, gentle and effective.
But, to be on the safe side- if you have a particular condition, you need to seek consent from your GP before you can come to a class as we don’t want to exacerbate any pain you might have.
